Prague’s concept store Orel & Friends, located in Nerudova street, is pleased to announce that after the mandatory break, it has now resumed operations. With the reopening, they have also added a textile blueprint to their offer. The tablecloth designs, created by the traditional UNESCO-listed dyeing technique, are designed specifically for Orel & Friends, which is thus their exclusive dealer.

Orel & Friends offers a wide range of Czech products, the selection of which is based on originality and tradition combined with a modern concept. When purchasing a gift or home accessory, the customer always becomes familiar with its origin and the story of the craftsman or artist who created it. Their offer includes, for example, hand-painted Chod ceramics by Mrs. Korečková, who is one of the last living artists in the area, original lamps from the Kasalý family studio and authored large-format photographs of Czech tourist signs from the store owner’s own personal project.

“Although we experienced complications in the first year of operations due to the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic, we are now open again and with even greater motivation. All of our assortment comes from local craftsmen and we are glad that with our activities,we can support Czech art and crafts in these difficult times. I also truly enjoy choosing our assortment and that I can participate in the creation of some pieces myself. This is the case with the blueprint from the Strážnice workshop, which makes us very happy in the shop,” added Stéphane Corbet, the founder and owner of the Orel & Friends concept store, who moved from his native France to Prague in 2002.

The blueprint workshop in Strážnice was founded in 1906 and the traditional textile technique of blueprint has been passed down from generation to generation. In 2018, the blueprint was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Stéphane Corbet, in cooperation with the Strážnice workshop, creates blueprint products in an innovative modern concept, which are available exclusively in the Orel & Friends store.

Orel & Friends is located in Nerudova 6 in the Lesser Town of Prague and is currently open Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. It offers a wide range of Czech craft products, among which, besides specially designed blueprint tablecloths, you can find ceramics, wooden toys, jewelry, posters, bags, Christmas decorations, wooden bowls, leather books, diaries and much more.
